Bike through the quiet and scenic northern Napa Valley where you cycle along famous vineyards and can try world-renowned Napa wines while enjoying stunning valley views.  Take in the best of the best in the Napa Valley as you bike to two wineries, unique in their own way, along the quiet back roads of Calistoga.  All in all, you’ll travel around 12 miles along mostly flat roads.

There's a bit of "Grapes 101" along the way and you'll pop in and sample wines and learn a lot about how to sip, swirl and taste all the wines.  Your private guide acts as a chef, wine educator, concierge, confidant and Sherpa all wrapped up in one.

You'll also enjoy a wine country picnic lunch (individual boxed lunches) at one of the wineries.

Wine tasting fees are not included ($10 to $25 per person, per winery, subject to change).

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the child policy? -- Children are allowed but some wineries do not allow anyone under age 21 to enter. You will be asked during the booking process if any minor children will be in your party and to provide guidance on how you would like your tour to operate to include the minors. For instance, you may wish to only visit wineries that allow children to enter.

What is the distance I will ride? -- Normally these tours go a distance of 10 to 15 miles. This is spread out over the course of the whole day with many stops at wineries in between.

What is the difficulty of the bike tours? -- The Sip ‘n Cycle routes are geared towards “Energetic Beginners” and are mainly flat with only a few rolling hills here and there. Typically the distance traveled is between 10 to 15 miles at a moderate pace, with stops about every five miles.

Are there wine tasting fees and how much do they cost? -- Recently more and more wineries are charging wine tasting fees. Guides try to choose wineries that do not charge, but sometimes it is unavoidable. Wine tasting fees vary from $10 to $25 per person per winery. In most cases you can share a taste (one glass). At some wineries, if you purchase wine you are reimbursed the tasting fee.

What is the weather like? -- Beautiful! It normally does not rain from the beginning of May to the end of October or November. The mornings can be foggy, but not cold. Summer highs vary from the 70′s – 90′s with low humidity!! These tours operate rain or shine because guides are optimists and always expect it to be sunny!

What should I wear? -- Wear comfortable, breathing clothes you can ride in. Layers are best as the mornings can be cooler than the rest of the day. Tennis shoes or similar shoes are great. If you decide to wear pants, please be aware that your right leg will need to be rolled up or cinched about the pants leg to make sure the bike chain does not eat your pants. Don’t forget your sunglasses, sun block and camera!

What is for lunch? -- You will be provided an individual boxed lunch to be enjoyed picnic-style at one of the wineries.

How many people will be on the tour? -- As this is a private tour, only your party will take part with the maximum being 12 people.

Is there van support for the tour in case I do not want to ride the whole day? -- The support van is always nearby. It may not follow along every minute, but is there in case it is needed for tired riders or other reasons. The guides also will be more than happy to bring the van around after your tour to pick up any wine purchases made throughout the day.

What type of bike will I be using? -- You will ride Specialized Cross Trail hybrid bikes, with upright handle bars for comfort. They come with a front bag to store your personal items. Also available are touring and road bikes, mountain bikes, cruisers and tandems – let the guides know in advance if you would prefer to use one of these other bikes. They also have a limited supply of clip-less pedals, or can take pedals off to attach yours if you bring your own.
